Any Health Insurance out there for us "little guys"?

Realizing that many of you are retired Feds or LE, and have a residual income and decent insurance through your previous employer, I am curious as to what some of you other sole proprietors or small operations are doing about health insurance for you and / or your employees.

I find that working a full time gig at the AF base is unfortunately necessary to fulfill the martial obligations to my wife and provide her with affordable health care.
I have heard of some small businesses who get their health insurance through a professional group such as the Chamber of Commerce or other organizations. Still, what I have found is not really what we could consider an affordable option.

So, my question is this: Have any of you looked into obtaining health insurance and what have you come up with?

I look forward to your replies and ideas. And thanks in advance for your time.

Respectfully,
-Chuck

Actually- no. My suggestion is yours- join the Chamber of Commerce for better rates. No matter what you do, however, there is no good choice. And I do not think the health bill just passed by the Senate is going to be that beneficial. Unfortunately, health insurance is a commodity and currently a hot political topic.

My rates would be about $400 per month- which is a lot of money for me. And then there's the deductible. So- I won't continue to rant and rave- but it is a passionate topic for me. Marcy Kaptur is working very hard on this but there is no viable solution any time soon.

I joined a group called IRBA for small business owners. I'm not sure that they are the best out there but I was happy with them.
Thanks Sue & Olwyn. I appreciate your replies!
(I kind of expected a slightly bigger response to this thread.)
Olwyn, I assume that IRBA is the "Independent & Retail Business Associates, Inc." and NOT the "Indian River Boating Association"?
Ha Ha, Yes indeed, no boaters or Indians here. I believe that IRBA requires you to have a minimum of two employees to qualify but quite frankly my insurance agent did something with the paperwork and got me in on my own. I had a HIP policy (which is not great) for $280 per month in New York.
